I Win!

I've place in the New Times Music Awards!

Listen to the songs that placed!

"Our Terrified Ghosts" - Nominated for the "Best Country/Americana/Folk" category.

"Homesick" - Nominated in the "Best Songwriter" category.

I recorded my six songs and submitted them a few weeks ago, thanks entirely to you and your ridiculously generous donations to cover the recording time and submission fee (thanks again by the way!), and two of them placed! This is huge you guys, I'm so excited, there were over 300 songs entered into the contest and my songs "Our Terrified Ghosts" and "Homesick" have both been chosen as winners in their respective categories.

What this means is well... a few things. First off, I'll find out on August 20/21 whether I won 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place, but that doesn't really matter, just getting selected at all is a huge honor. Secondly, I get to play two different concerts hosted by the SLO New Times! One is on August 20th at the Mission Plaza and the other is the next day, August 21st at the Steynberg Gallery. So cool!

Thirdly (and this is where I need your help!) this means that both of my songs are entered into the "People's Choice Awards" part of the competition. This is where you the public get to vote on your favorite songs to win! It only takes two seconds to go to the website and place your votes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place and you have no idea how awesome it would be if I could win this! There's some well established bands in the running who have huge numbers of fans locally, but I'm betting we can do it based on how incredible you guys are!

Just go here http://www.newtimesslo.com/ntma_choice.php to place your vote and please, tell your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, students, teachers, in-laws, mailman, trash guy, bank teller, alien captors, and anyone else you can think of to do the same!

Thanks so so much for reading this, and thanks even more for making this possible, I couldn't have submitted an entry at all without your help! Talk to you soon,

-loren

New Year's Here!

Hey!

How've ya been? How's the new year treatin' ya so far? Mine's been pretty wicked awesome to be honest, hope yours has too!

I've got my first few shows of 2010 coming up and I'd really love to tell you about them, so I will!

Tuesday the 26th I'll be joining Steve Key at the Clubhouse for his songwriter's showcase, it's the last one before he moves to the Steynberg Gallery, be sure to catch me and the other great local artists at our final show at this location, I'm going on at 7:00!

Then of course on Saturday the 30th of January I'll be playing a three hour concert at the Clubhouse from 7 to 10, and I'll be joined by the tremendously talented Honeyguide! They'll be opening up the show and I'll close us out, come early and stay late, there's no cover and the drinks are great!

Whew! There's plenty more in the next few months, Farmer's shows, a Backstage Pizza appearrance, a concert at Gather Wine Bar, check the shows section for details!

The other big news is something I don't wanna go into too much detail about, but let's just say I have an appointment to meet with an absurdly talented cellist at a local studio and record some tracks professionally. Yeah. Seriously. Keep your ears open for more info about that.

Thanks for reading, hope to see you soon!

Hey Guys,

So, you know how I've been talking about this nebulous "Second Album" that I've been working on in the background for a while now? Well I finally got my stuff together and met with the talented Bob Liepman (of Bob and Wendy) to work on some cello parts on some of my songs! It was only supposed to be a rehearsal to hash out some ideas, but I recorded it and it sounded pretty amazing.

So I want to share one of the demos with you. Remember it's only an early demo, and this was the first time we'd ever played this song together, which only makes it that much more amazing how good it sounds! This is my song Barefoot and you can listen to it here (http://eachpassingday.bandcamp.com/track/barefoot-cello-demo). Let me know what you think!

Also, check out my website's shows section (www.eachpassingday.com/shows.html), I've got three Farmer's dates coming up, as well as some at the Clubhouse, Linnaea's, Backstage Pizza, Stacked Stone Cellars, and more to be added!

Thanks a lot everyone, hope you like the new demo! Don't forget there's only one week left to download your free copy of my song "If You'll Be Mine" right here (www.tinyurl.com/ifyoullbemine)! Grab a copy if you haven't yet, and tell your friends!

Talk to you later,

What's Goin' On With You?

Hey Guys!

So, what's going on with you? Hope you're well. I've been pretty good, thanks for asking! I happen to have just added three new shows I wanted to let you know about.

I'm playing tonight (Wednesday the 29th) at La Terraza's Open Mic around 6pm and they've got dollar slices of pizza and two for one drinks! I know, right? That should be fun, see ya there maybe?

I'm also playing on August 2nd AND 29th (A Sunday and Saturday respectively) at Terraza from 12:30 to 3:30 for a lunch time gig. These are always a blast and the food is great and you couldn't ask for a better location. Hope you can make it!

I've also got two farmer's gigs coming up, one this month on the 13th of August on Chorro Street!

Whew, alright, other than that, we've made it all the way up to 23rd place in the Windows Free Music Downloads Promotion "If You'll Be Mine" is a part of. There's still 56 days left to get your free copy of the song at tinyurl.com/ifyoullbemine so be sure to get it and let your friends know!

There's also still just under a week left to vote for the New Times Music Awards at newtimesslo.com/music_awards.php since they stop taking votes on the 3rd of August! They'll announce the winners at a concert on the 8th and I'll let you guys know as soon as I do!

Alright, that's all I've got, except to inform you that I'm working hard on as of yet unnamed album # 2! I'm getting quotes from recording studios and mastering engineers and working a lot on arrangements and song lists. More news to follow!

Thanks everyone, see ya soon!

Vote For Me!

Oh man, there's too much cool stuff going on. Here's the deal! I made it into the top 3 "Best Songs" at the first annual New Times Music Awards with my song "If You'll Be Mine"! That means that in addition to a few other cool perks, I get entered in the People's Choice New Times Music Awards, where you the community vote and choose your favorite local musician!

Just head over to www.newtimesslo.com and click the "New Times Music Awards" button on the far left, or just click here to go directly to the voting page! You get to vote for your picks for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Your guy's response was so amazing when I was promoting that free giveaway, lets see if we can do the same for this voting thing! A lot of the other bands in the running have huge local fan bases, but I believe I still have a chance with your guy's help!

Thanks so much everyone, I really appreciate it, it's amazing to get picked at all by the judges, but to make it into the top 3 best songs is more than I expected!

It's an honor to have gotten this far, and I'm happy whether or not I even place in the People's Choice Awards, but it'd really be amazing, don't you think? Thanks, later!

New Times News

Hey guys,

SO! There's some kinda cool stuff going on right now, I dunno if you know, but I entered the New Times Music Awards Competition here in SLO and I feel pretty good about the songs I submitted. I turned them in on the last possible day, I'm kind of a procrastinator... but they couldn't tell me when they'll announce the results, so I'll just keep my fingers crossed until I hopefully hear something! Think happy thoughts for me!

I've got shows next week! Those of you here in SLO have two chances to see me play over the next few days. First off, Tuesday the 23rd I'll be at the Clubhouse for the Songwriter's Showcase which goes from 6:30 to 9:30. I'm doing one solo set and joining Gary Garret for a few songs on his set as well! Get there early so you don't miss anything, the Clubhouse is at 740 West Foothill Blvd.

Next, I'll be playing at La Terrazza on Wednesday night (the 24th) for their first ever (invite only) open mic night! Show goes from 5 to 8 and they've got six really great performers lined up to do about 20 minutes each. The food is great and the back patio where they have music is really awesome! You'll find La Terraza at 778 Higuera in the Network in SLO.

So that's about it, thanks to all the new people who've joined the list, it's been great meeting new people at shows and I really appreciate you wanting to keep up to date with what I'm doing!

Oh hey, I just had an idea, most of you have probably already downloaded my free album "Loren Radis" from bandcamp (http://eachpassingday.bandcamp.com/album/loren-radis), but have your friends? If you know anyone you think might like my music, feel free to let them know they can download that album for free to see if they like it!

Ok, thanks everyone, hope to see you soon,

Shows Shows Shows!

Hi Everyone,

How are you? I'm good thanks :)

I've got thre shows coming up, and two of them are really soon! Check the shows page for details, but the one I really wanna tell you about right now is coming up this Saturday, May 16th at La Terraza (formerly Cisco's). It's in the Network here in SLO (778 Higuera Street) and they'll be celebrating their grand opening this weekend! I'm the lunch-time entertainment on Saturday, from 12 to 3 in the afternoon and it should be a lot of fun and a beautiful day. So come on out and get some food and listen to some music :)

I'm also playing up in Paso on the 15th at Stacked Stone cellars, and then on June 7th I'll be joining Rocky Louge at the SLO Down Pub in Arroyo Grande, so lots of opportunities to come see me if you're interested.

I wrote four new songs over the last few weeks, they actually were all finished within a day of each other, it was a strangely prolific time for me. I don't have recordings of them yet that are good enough to share, but rest assured that you guys'll be the first to know when I do! Plus, if you wanna see them debuted live, I suggest coming out to La Terrazza on the 16th! Wanna know the song titles? Haha, I have no idea why, but I want to tell you.

  • 1. If You'll Be Mine
  • 2. Lullaby
  • 3. Stay
  • 4. St. Elmo's Fire

Thanks all, talk to you later!

RPM Challenge = New Album

First off, the Downtown Brew show was amazing, thanks so much to everyone who came out andmade it such a fun and special night! More on that later though, I want to be able to have pictures when I do the DTB blog!

Secondly! Have you heard of the RPMChallenge? (www.rpmchallenge.com). It stands for Record Production Month, and it's a website that challenges musician's once every year to record an album in the month of February. That means you have only 28 days to record an entire album from start to finish.

I decided to give it a show, just for fun y'know? I managed to get a little something finished before the deadline, and album of 8 as of yet unreleased songs, two of which were even written specifically for the project!

SO. If you're at all interested in hearing what I came up with (remember that it was done in a month and all in my room on Garageband, so it's not top quality stuff...) then head over to our band's Bandcamp page at http://eachpassingday.bandcamp.com/album/scrape-em-off and give it a listen. You can even download an mp3 version of the album for free! Of course, if you really like it you also have the option to buy a CD-Quality version for a measly five bucks. So that's about it for the time being, thanks a lot for reading and I hope you like the songs!

Oh, here's the track listing.

1 Dance
2 Everything's Gonna Be Alright
3 Skin (The World Ends With You)
4 My Melody
5 Scrape 'Em Off
6 Shut Up
7 Better
8 Who Isn't?

And here's the album art.

let me know what you think!

We're opening for Ashley Matte and we're playing for about 45 minutes. The Brew is all kinds of awesome and the tickets are only 7 bucks. Ashley Matte is really talented too, you won't regret coming to hear her! The show is 21 and over only, so if you're underage just come out for Farmer's and you'll still get to hear the music :)

So, to sum up, Downtown Brew 8pm, Tickets are $7 available at Booboo's, ticketweb.com, or at the door. Hope to see you there!

2009's Looking Up!

Hey Guys,

As some of you might know/remember, 2009 did not start off so well for me. With two shows canceled due to rain and the other two thrown off because of broken strings... my first four shows were something of a disappointment. This was made all the worse for how supportive all my friends and fans were. So many people said they'd come to the two shows that ended up getting canceled that I felt like a jerk, and then even more people came to the two where I kind of flubbed it up when I broke my strings... You guys have been incredibly supportive lately and I really felt like I dropped the ball...

Well no more! I'm moving on, and I'm letting go, as it were, of the past few shows, and that's been helped quite a bit by a much better performance at last Tuesday's Songwriter's Showcase and last weekend's Backstage Pizza Concert. I finally feel like I've hit my stride and I'm hoping to get to show off to y'all in the near future.

Which brings me to the meat of the message, upcoming concerts!

The big one is Thursday, February the 26th when I'll be playing a solo concert at the SLO Farmer's Market on Chorro Street, and then the band will be having a concert at Downtown Brew! The headlining act picked us personally to open up the night for her and I'm really excited about it. Tickets are only like 7 dollars and it would be awesome to have a good crowd at Downtown Brew. Man, their sound system is so good and their sound guy really cares, and we've been practicing our butts off, you should come, you'll love it!

I'm adding tons of other shows for the next few months so be sure to check the calendar on our website (eachpassingday.com), but I've got a project that's gonna be taking some time up in the near future, and I'm hoping to get it done before the Summer so that I can do lots of shows over the break.

Thanks a ton for reading, as always, if you wanna stop receiving these e-mails just reply and let me know and I'll take your name right off.

See ya soon,

-loren

No Resolutions, but some New Projects

Alright, so it's 2009. Am I supposed to talk about last year's events? Sum up my plans for the new year? I dunno...

Well, so I had a show last night (the 11th) at Linnaea's. It was a songwriter's night hosted by Ted Waterhouse and it's my second time being invited to play at one. It was a lot of fun, the talent is always really high (Bob and Wendy in particular put on a great show), but my experience in particular was... well, frankly it was terrible. Don't get me wrong, the room was great, crowd was awesome, Ted was a good host and the sound system worked. All that stuff was great, I was just terrible. I haven't played in a month and that took a greater toll on my nerves than I realized, so I was really nervous all throughout, and then of course, in the middle of my new song, I broke a string... yay. So that threw me all off kilter, ruined my debut of my new song, and made me even more nervous for my last two songs...Not exactly how I was hoping my first show of the new year would go. Well, we do the best we can with the cards we're dealt, yeah?

So, this Friday morning I'll be driving down to Anaheim for the NAMM Show, a music convention held there every year. I've recorded a really great sounding new demo with my dad's help and the plan is to walk around the show floor with about twenty copies of the CD and some press kits and just hope that a record exec walks up to me asking if I'd like to join his label....or something like that. This should be a really cool experience for me, even if nothing comes out of it immediately, and I'm really looking forward to it. Think happy thoughts for me!

The other good news about the NAMM Show is that, since I spent all this time recording and writing and making art for the demo disc, it just seems silly not to get it into your hands somehow, soooo.... how would you guys feel about me maybe releasing an EP with the new songs on it? I'm downright jazzed about getting the songs into your hands and I hope you wanna hear them.

Anywho, that's about all the news I've got for now, thanks for reading, I'll see you guys soon!

-loren

p.s. Oh yeah, playing at farmer's one week from Thursday, the 22nd of January on Chorro Street, see ya there!

12/30/08

I've also got a new song. I don't have a name for it yet, but for the time being I'm calling it "lets be scared together" and I'd love to hear what you think about it.

http://www.deadplant155.com/music/letsbescaredtogether.mp3

Thanks a ton everyone, I wouldn't be doing what I do if you didn't enjoy listening, thanks for enjoying my music, it means a lot to me. See you soon,

This song is called "(Skin) The World Ends With You" and it's another in my line of songs that aren't inspired by anything directly out of my personal experiences. The opening line popped into my head one day when I was driving, and the rest just kinda came into being piece by piece.

Free Downloads!?

it's true!

so i decided to start making a habit of giving a little something away for free every friday, it was a hit in our test market (see: myspace) and i'm gonna try it out for a month or so, see how you guys like it, maybe keep doing it, who knows!

so earlier this week i gave away a free download of my live performance of "homesick" on kpig radio. you can download it here! (right click to save). starting tomorrow (friday the 31st) i'll be giving away one free something or other every friday for the whole month of november. it might be more live performances, maybe some demos or even a track from our debut album "welcome home" (which you can buy from us here, btw). the plan is to get the links to you guys by 8 am every friday, so be sure to check in either on the website, or on the myspace!

don't forget about the exciting concerts we've got coming up in the near future too! namely, nov 4th at the clubhouse (740 west foothill blvd in SLO) where i'll be playing a 3 song set around 8pm with a veritable plethura of other talented local songwriters, and nov 14th at shepherd's table (151 north 7th street in Grover Beach) where from 7 to 10 we'll be joined by touring acts "dafni" and "dana & susan robinson" for a concert that's shaping up to be quite impressive!

alright, thanks for reading, talk to you later!

The rumors are true, we've got the second of our monthly concerts at Shepherd's Table this Friday the 17th from 7 to 10pm! This month we've got Amy meyers and Julie Christensen playing the first two sets, they're both wickedly talented women and you won't regret coming early to see them, I can promise you that!

We'll be going on at 9pm just like last time, and there'll be food drinks and great music all night long. Hope to see you there, thanks for reading!

We're in the Papers!

Hey, we got a full page article in the Santa Maria Sun last week and I completely forgot to tell you about it! They called us all up and did interviews and I think the article's pretty cool, check it out here! (or copy this url into your browser if that doesn't work http://www.santamariasun.com/art/751/welcome-each-passing-day/).

Here's a little excerpt with something from all three of us if you'd rather not read the whole article,

"After his breakup, the self-proclaimed "severe introvert" forced himself to play on the beach in front of anyone who would listen to prepare himself for eventually playing concerts. His newfound direction led to regular gigs and, finally, a CD.

Each Passing Day released its first CD, Welcome Home, in September. Radis provides the vocals, and childhood friends play the rest: Matt Schimtz takes drums and Dan Schimtz is on bass. The Schimtz brothers also present three songs on the album, though Radis does most of the writing.

Matt has played drums for about 10 years, but he's modest about his drum playing: "You don't have to be great to make great music."

Dan has been playing guitar for 14 years, but says he got into it by divine intervention. Prior to picking up a guitar, he had never had the desire to play music.

"In my life, if I could ever say I had the good Lord tell me to do something, it was play music," he said. "So who was I to argue?""

Two Shows Reminder!

Hey All, I'm playing in Paso Robles tomorrow night (Tuesday, the 7th) from 9:30 to 11:30 at Monteleone's Rock, right next door to the Firestone Brewery. This is an awesome venue, and if you live North of the grade it's a much shorter drive than coming to something in SLO. I'll have our new album available for sale and I'll be playing two one hour sets. The venue's great and I hope to see you there!

I'm also playing this Friday (Oct 10th) at Backstage Pizza on the Cal Poly Campus, show starts at 6pm and goes for an hour and a half, I'll have cd's for sale here too, if you go to Poly or you're in the area, stop on bye and hang out, maybe buy me some pizza :P

Thanks for reading, hope to see you soon!
